About the Segway
The Segway is a transportation device developed at a cost of more than $100 million, by inventor Dean Kamen. Kamen's vehicle is a complex mix of hardware and software that mimics the human body's ability to maintain its balance. The Segway has no brakes, no engine, no throttle, no gearshift and no steering wheel. It can carry the average rider for a full day nonstop, on only five cents' worth of electricity. The initial cost will be about $3,000 or $8,000 for an industrial model.
