8/30: Ty sang ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’. I thought it was good. His mom was in the audience. JD sang ‘Suspicious Minds’ as he used to be an Elivs impersonator. I thought it was just ok. Marty sang ‘Wish You Were Here’. My husband’s band just played this song at a party & they have never played it before but the crowd went nuts for it. I thought Marty did a good job & his aunt was there in the audience. Jordis did ‘Imagine’ & was finally back to being the Jordan I love. She also had her Dad in the audience. MiG did ‘Live & Let Die’. I thought it was just ok. Suzie did ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. It’s a tough song to pull off but I thought she sucked. The band was awesome though & I think that makes her performance look better than it was. The bottom 3 at the end were JD, Ty & Marty.   

8/31: Ty, Suzie & Jordis raised their hand saying they deserved the encore. But Suzie got it & was told to pick her opener. She chose Marty. MiG thought he would be in the bottom 3. JD was pissed that Suzie said he took a long time w/ INXS on the song. He said she is not his friend. When asked who thought they were in the bottom 3, all but Suzie raised their hand. & she was right. She was safe this week. MiG was the other one safe. JD did ‘This Time’ & I thought it was just ok. Ty did ‘The One Thing’ & I thought that was just ok too. INXS wasn’t happy that he sang a lyric wrong. Marty had more votes than all the bottom 3 combined so he was safe. That left Jordis so she sang ‘Listen Like These’ & that was just ok too. INXS said they were underwhelmed by all 3. Ty was not right for our band, INXS. Ty said it hurts & then I believe he blamed all his bottom 3’s on being black. My husband was furious w/ this cuz he has never liked Ty & his color had nothing to do w/ it. He doesn’t think others voted based on that as well. I did like Ty’s voice but when you watched him perform there was just something off there. It did seem like a Broadway musical or something. I never thought he would win but I didn’t dislike his singing like my husband did.   

9/4: They toast to Ty. Jordis cried & said it should have been her. JD said we all had an underwhelming performance & they have to use it to do better. They had a photo shoot w/ Levis. JD had fun. MiG was not comfortable. Jordis was the most difficult. Marty had some great pictures & Suzie had fun. It was JD’s Bday so he started a food fight w/ his cake. They all took a shower together to get it off. Then they go in the hot tub & Suzie drinks off of JD’s foot. They got to see the website where people were voting for which song they would do. Marty got ‘Everlong’. My husband’s band does that song & I already have my tickets to see Foo Fighters/ Weezer when they are here next month. I love that song. Jordis got ‘We Are The Champions’. Suzie got ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’. I know I say this all the time but I absolutely LOVE that song. Everytime I hear someone is going to do it I cringe cuz they rarely do it justice. JD got ‘Come As You Are’. MiG got ‘Hard to Handle’. Another song I love. That whole album is good. But I don’t have high hopes for his performance of it. JD didn’t want to read any of the comments about him on the site. They got a letter from INXS saying they will also do an original song. Marty would do ‘Trees’. That song gets in my head constantly. Suzie finally got JD to listen to some comments. Jordis’ song was called ‘Try Not’. Her vocals didn’t seem to go w/ the song. The band really worked w/ her to get the song right & she didn’t like their changes but didn’t know how to say no.   

9/6: JD did ‘Come As You Are’. I hated it. It sounded like an elevator version to me. Then he did ‘Pretty Vegas’ & it was ok. He used a megaphone. Suzie did ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ & just absolutely nailed it! I was so pleased. Then she did ‘Soul Life’ & dedicated it to Ty. I thought it was good & she got a standing ovation. MiG did ‘Hard to Handle’ & it was just ok. Then did another just ok song, ‘Home In Me’. Jordis did ‘We Are The Champions’ & it was very karaoke. Then did ‘Try Not’ that she wrote w/ Marty. It was good. Marty did ‘Everylong’ & it sucked hard. He pussed it up & took all the balls out of that song. But then he got me back w/ ‘Trees’. At the close of the show the order was Marty – Suzie – JD – MiG – Jordis.   

9/7: Marty & JD both raised their hands saying they were deserving of the encore. & it did come down to the 2 of them. JD won it & Dave sleeved his opener & asked all 5 to sing ‘Us’. Then JD did ‘Pretty Vegas’ & didn’t use the megaphone this time. Suzie didn’t think she did well on the Bonnie Raitt song. Don’t beat yourself too hard cuz I thought she did great. Jordis is getting more uncomfortable. She raised her hand along w/ Suzie & MiG thinking they would be Bottom 3. Jordis is the first of the bottom 3. She did ‘Need U Tonite’. It was bad. I didn’t like her pitch & she forgot the words & looked uncomfortable. Suzie was next & did ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ & nailed it again. Marty was safe & then MiG looked shocked when he was also safe. JD sang ‘Mystify’ & did a good job but the guy creeps me out w/ how cheesy he is & how much he kisses ass. Jordis was cut & she cried. I loved her early on in the competition & she just lost it. But I hope she gets an album out cuz the girl has mad talent.   

9/11: Sorry. I didn’t watch this episode. I just didn’t care about the Sunday night episodes as much.   

9/13: I was busy doing things for ‘Big Brother’ when this was on so my husband took notes for me. So bare w/ me for this recap as it will be from a drummer’s point of view. JD got to see his sister & Mom for winning the encore. The clinic was on interviews w/ INXS. JD has issues. MiG has his theatrical history. They wonder if Suzy can handle the pressure. They think Marty is controlling. Then my husband has written down here that MiG is the worst dresser ever. & then he has “Brooke Burke must shave beav.” Cuz of her low cut skirt. I told you this was a guy POV right? INXS decided what 2 songs they would do. Suzie did ‘What’s Going On’. I thought it was a perfect fit for her voice. & hubby’s note says “eh”. Then she did ‘Interstate Love Song’. Hubby thought it started ok & then sucked. JD did ‘Pretty Vegas’. No comment. Then did ‘Money’. Hubby said it was good but he has creepy stage presence. My thoughts exactly. Marty did ‘Trees’ acoustic. Still good. Then did ‘Creep’ & that was awesome. MiG did ‘Kiss From a Rose’ & it was good I thought. Hubby thought just ok. Then did ‘Paint It Black & it was just ok. At the end of the episode the early order was Marty – JD – Suzie – MiG.   

9/14: Marty got the encore & the audience got to pick the opener. They chose JD. He did ‘Pretty Vegas’. Marty asked the audience to choose between acoustic or electric for ‘Trees’ & if they chose electric he would break a guitar. Electric it was. Suzie did ‘Suicide Blonde’ & I thought it was good. JD did ‘By My Side’ & it was meh. MiG was in the bottom 3 for the 1st time & he did ‘What U Need’ & I thought it was just ok. He went all out on the performance though & when he went to his knees he split the knees in his tight pants. JD was safe & Suzie was out. She thanked INXS for their music. We were told there would be a Rock Star tour in the fall.   

9/18: Another Sunday episode I just didn’t bother with.   9/20: All the singers returned for the finale. The finalists got to choose from any of the songs done the whole competition. MiG did ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. I thought it sucked. JD did ‘Can’t Always Get What You Want’ & I thought it was just ok. Marty did ‘Wish You Were Here’ & it was great. MiG was cut & I totally agreed w/ that decision. Marty did an INXS song I didn’t know & JD did ‘What U Need’. INXS said JD sings w/ passion & is an amazing performer that is great to watch. They thought Marty was adapting & changing & was a riveting frontman. Then they told JD that he WAS right for our band, INXS. He cried & Marty congratulated him. I can not stand JD but was happy he won cuz it is like the last AI for me. Marty is the more talented of the 2, like Bo was, & it is a step down to be the frontman for a band no one is going to care about. So now Marty can get a deal & make the music he wants to make. I will have to try & check out his band since I am in Chicago.
