Phil did ‘Blaze of Glory’.
I thought it was a great pick for him & I liked it.
Jon Bon Jovi said he nailed every note.
Randy of course had to brag & say he recorded that song w/ Jon.
He said other than country that was his best week & was da bomb.
Paula said that was the best opening all season.
Simon said it was OK but didn’t hear any authenticity.
He compared it to a bad actor playing a role & thinks he will be out
next week. Jordin did ‘Livin on a Prayer’.
I love this girl but thought this was pretty awful.
It was like an elevator version of the song.
She tried to look the part & had rocker hair but the vocal was weak.
& I don’t know if she messed up the words or it was the arrangement
to shorten the song but they made it really weird & awkward.
Randy said she isn’t a rock grrl & this wasn’t her best.
Paula said she knows she wants it & knew Jordin knew she was out of
her range. Simon said it was out of
control & on the verge of shrieking. Lakisha did ‘This Ain’t a Love Song’.
I don’t know the song & even though it is a JBJ song I consider it
cheating that she just got to do another gospel or R&B song & not go out
of her wheelhouse. But it was a good
performance for her & I haven’t been liking her lately.
Jordin would have nailed it though. JBJ
said he would bet money that she won’t get cut this week after that.
Randy said she is back. It
started rough but she sold everyone. Paula
said her low tone is money in her pocket. Really?
Cuz I hate her low tone. Simon
said he could kiss her for that so Ryan brings her over & he plants one on
her lips. He said she rose to the
occasion & absolutely nailed it. Blake totally changed up ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’.
I didn’t like it, I didn’t hate it.
I was very indifferent to it. He
added his beatboxing & it just didn’t go w/ the rest of the song.
It didn’t sync up. He made
it like 2 different songs & I wasn’t impressed. &
his dark hair is odd. I thought the
beginning was stupid. I don’t know
if it was a good vocal but am sure as a performance people liked it.
< /SPAN>Randy said that was the most original version on AI ever
& thought it was hot. Paula was
loopy tonight & her echoing Randy was more blatant than ever & she just
rambled something & made no sense. She
said he was amazing & this was his night.
Simon said ½ the audience will hate it & ½ will love it.
He thinks it was the right thing to do & was very brave & took a
massive risk. He thinks this will
keep him there next week. Chris did ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’.
Big mistake. Huge.
Chris nailed it last year & Chris is no Chris.
Daughtry that is. The song
was way too big for him & pussied it down.
Hated it. Randy said he made
it his own & was nice. Paula
echoed Randy. Simon said he did as
much as he could w/ that song cuz it is not his style.
He doesn’t know if it was enough to stay next week. Melinda closed w/ ‘Have a Nice Day’.
I hate this song. It’s so
cheesy. I guess she did a good vocal
but I was bored. Randy said it was
great. Paula – ZzZzZzZz.
Simon compared her to a young Tina Turner & said she is vocally in a
different league. Tonight Jon Bon Jovi will perform & 2 people will be
cut. I think Chris & Jordin were
the worst 2 of the night. Chris
& Lakisha were the worst last week & Lakisha has been pretty bad for
awhile. So my picks to go are them.
But Phil could easily be in Lakisha’s place since he doesn’t have the
fanbase he should. 5/2: They
sat in 2 rows of 3. From left to
right in the back was Jordin – Blake – Chris.
In the front was Melinda – Phil – Lakisha.
Ryan promised us no filler on this 1-hour results show.
I was able to watch it in 20 minutes so that sure ain’t true.
Ryan said Simon seems so uninterested this season.
Well duh. So are we.
Simon said if he is going to be obnoxious he won’t answer his
questions. Simon had been messing w/
the back of Paula’s neck when she was attempting to slur her words & Ryan
made some lame puppet joke & said Paula was better looking than his puppet.
Simon took it to mean some slam on his girlfriend Terri Seymore &
said Ryan was rude & wants him to apologize.
Simon gives Blake the top marks from last night for taking a risk. Ryan goes out on the street to ask people about the show
& the popular opinion was that Jordin was the worst.
Blake tells Ryan that he has a program he uses to mess w/ the beats.
Jordin said everyone has to have a bad week so that was hers but she gave
it all she had. Phil’s Dad is a
pastor so pop music was discouraged in his home but said they still managed to
smuggle in some ‘Slippery When Wet’. Lakisha
said Simon is a good kisser & she would do it again. They still pimped out their charity & the bumpers
going to commercial break were Ruben, Fantasia & Taylor asking people to
call & donate. Ruben was funny
cuz he kept pointing his finger to emphasize what he was saying.
Then Robin Thicke performed. I
have no interest in him but I do know he is Alan Thicke & Gloria Loring’s
kid. The Ford commercial was to ‘Paint it Black’ & it
had a carnival theme. Melinda, Phil & Lakisha had to stand.
Ryan said there were over 135 million votes from last week & this
one. Melinda was safe.
Lakisha was safe. Phil was
out. He took it so well & I
think the best attitude I have seen. Back row had to stand.
Jordin was told she was safe right away cuz they were so ignorant to her
last week. Chris & Blake have to
wait through commercials & Bon Jovi performing.
The guys say they are bestfriends. Chris
said he would go home for him. Ryan
asked if they would switch then. Blake
said it doesn’t matter cuz they will go on tour together.
Chris was out. He took it
well too. 5/8: can't
see Barry Gibb now & not think of Tonight is songs by Barry Gibb & Melinda started w/
‘Love You Inside & Out'. I thought it started really weird & her
vibrato is on my last nerve. I didn't like it at all. Randy said it
was another solid performance from her but he wasn't jumping up & down.
He doesn't look like someone who jumps up & down very often anyway.
Paula said her vocal is always spot on. Simon said he expects them to be
incredible at this point & it wasn't & was just like a backing vocalist
& she is better than that. Her other song was ‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart'.
I thought it was better than her first but still did nothing for me. Randy
agreed that it was better but thought it was a great vocal w/ a beautiful
ending. Paula just parroted Randy as usual. She compared her to
Stephanie Mills but wants her to throw her technique away. Simon said the
2nd half of that song put her in the semi-finals. Blake did ‘You Should Be Dancing'. I know the
majority just love this kid & I am growing to loathe him. I do not
think he has any vocal talent whatsoever. & I am beyond sick of his
skipping the record thing he does. So lame. Randy said it didn't
work for him & the song didn't need any of his beatboxing. Paula said
he started shaky & the pitch was off but his beatboxing shows his
musicianship. That was so stupid. Simon said he is unique but it was
absolutely terrible. Next up was butchering ‘This is Where I Came In'.
I just want to punch him in the face everytime he skips the record thing.
Hated it. Randy said it was better than the last but isn't jumping up
& down & he doesn't have to beatbox every joint. Paula tried
saying he could & Randy said it gets old. Paula said he is a
contemporary rebel & sang spot on key. She has got to be so high.
Simon said it was completely tuneless & he did not have a good night. Lakisha destroyed ‘Stayin Alive'. She slowed it
down & nothing about it worked. Randy said it was weird & she took
a great song & changed the melody & shouldn't have. Paula said she
took the tempo down which brought the crowd down that wanted to dance w/ it.
Simon said no kiss tonight baby. He said we're back to the shouting &
it was verging on scary at parts. She attempted ‘Run To Me' & it was so boring &
her voice cracked on the last note. Randy said it was much better than her
1st song. Paula said she is still a champ. Simon said it was better
than the 1st but not great & thinks she & Blake are vulnerable. Jordin did ‘To Love Somebody'. Her vocals aren't
perfect but I think she is far & away the best singer there & she is so
young & can only get better. Randy said that was the best so far &
said it was like Mariah or Aretha. Paula said it isn't LIKE the best
tonight. It IS. Simon said it was the best song choice & vocal
& we're back in the competition. She closed w/ ‘Woman in Love'. Again, not
jumping up & down like Randy, but better than anything anyone else tonight
has done. Randy said it was not her best & pitchy but it is a really
hard song to sing. Paula parrots. Simon says it was old-fashioned
& pageanty. So I think Blake & Lakisha deserve to be in the
bottom & either one going home is a win/ win in my book. 5/9: Paula
& Simon were sitting in each other's seats. I have heard Paula doesn't
come out until Ryan is already talking so maybe she was just late as usual.
Simon did the seal clap like Paula & she rubbed her breasteses. Ryan
was a total prick as usual & said that Simon has more to work w/ than Paula.
No idea what he meant for sure. Then he bragged that only he & Nigel
knew the results. Next Ryan does the man on the street thing & I
thought it was funny that everyone he talked to said the show was good cuz
everyone I talk to said it sucked. When he asked a little girl who would
win she said the Lakers. Or maybe she is a "Blaker Girl". Ryan claims there were over 45 million votes. Then
he pretended that Pink was there live but really she taped this weeks ago.
& they wanted her to do her song ‘U & Ur Hand' but they were totally
Ed Sullivaning it & wanted her to change the lyrics cuz it is a "family
show". Pink isn't one to take anyone's shit & refused so she did
this song instead. Afterwards Ryan was looking across the stage like he
was looking at her. How lame is that? The Ford commercial was horrible. They did it to
‘You Really Got Me' & they were running from the fans a la the Beatles in
‘Hard Days Night'. Even w/ studio tweaking the F4 sound so bland &
boring together. Then on the group sing of the medley of Bee Gees songs
Melinda's mic didn't work at first & they should have left all the mics off.
That was fricking pathetic. Save your money kiddos. That tour this
summer is going to be worse than elevator music. It reminded me of an SNL
skit of a compilation album. Just so cheesy & monotone. They
can't harmonize w/ each other. & one-trick pony Blake didn't add in
any of his beatboxing so that was one plus. Bill Maher was in the audience
& sang along to ‘ Lakisha said if she goes she hopes she remembers her
words & doesn't cry. Jordin said she picked her songs as fast as she
could since they had 2 this week & just a few days to learn them. She
said it was double the trouble. Lakisha said a lot of things happened to
her before the show yesterday so she was thinking about those during the show
& hoping to kiss Simon again. Ryan said Simon's girlfriend is in the
audience so be careful. Melinda said the judges gave her a wakeup call.
She wanted to be consistent in all the genres but now knows she has to bring
more to it. The Top 3 will get to go home. But first the Top 4
saw a sneak peek at ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'. The
stars were in the audience tonight but Jessica Alba was missing. No she
wasn't. They were doing a lame thing for the movie since her character can
be invisible. So she was hiding behind Seacrest. Then we saw baby
pictures of the F4 & they talked about their childhood & wanting to
sing. They group hug on the stage not wanting to hear the
results. Jordin was safe. Then Ryan tells us the producers are now
looking for people play instruments for a band competition & you can go to
their site for details. Barry Gibb performed the song Jordin did last
night, ‘To Love Somebody' & she was so much better than him. Melinda was safe so Blake & Lakisha were the Bottom
2. Randy said last night was a tough night for both of them & wouldn't
predict who is going. Simon will. He said Lakisha. Paula
rambled something about both being tremendous talents & blah blah blah.
Lakisha was out. 5/15: They
do 3 songs each. Their choice,
producer’s & judges. Jordin was first w/ Simon’s pick, ‘Wishing on a
Star’. I liked it as usual.
Randy said it was a very good vocal.
Paula said Simon picked a good song & she did a beautiful job.
Simon said she sang it brilliantly but wishes they didn’t do a weird
jazz arrangement w/ it & it wasn’t one of her better performances. The producers picked ‘She Works Hard For the Money’.
I thought it was a very good pick for her.
I truly think she is the best singer out of what’s left.
She has range where Melinda & Blake can only do one thing.
Melinda can at least sing. I
don’t think Blake can sing at all & is a novelty act.
Randy said it was very nicely done & it doesn’t matter what song
she gets cuz she works it out. Paula
said it was fantastic. Let’s keep
track o f that. That’s the first
time she said that tonight. Simon
said the arrangement was old-fashioned but thought the vocal was very good. Jordin chose to do ‘I Who Have Nothing’ again.
It was just as good as the last time.
Randy said it was another great performance & thought it was her best
of the night. Paula said it sat well
in her voice. Simon said he is not
disputing that she sang it well but hates that a
17yo sang a 60yo song & wish she chose another. Paula chose ‘Roxanne’ for Blake.
This guy sucks so hard. It
was totally karaoke or worse, Muzak. Randy
said it was a great performance. Paula
said it did her proud & was fantastic [2].
Simon said it was not Earth shattering & not as good as the original.
He said it was good, not great. The producers picked ‘This Love’.
This is a perfect song for him & should be right in his wheelhouse
but I just hate his voice. It
isn’t good & just the same every time.
He threw in the “original” beatboxing & I roll my eyes.
He is so original. Like Blake chose ‘When I Get You Alone’.
This was his worst of the night. His
voice was horrible, the music was a trainwreck, the song was a bore.
I thought the whole thing was a clusterf*ck.
& he threw in the obnoxious beatboxing again.
Randy said he can see why he chose that song & thought it was cool
but like the 2nd song better. Paula
said the songs exemplify who he is as an artist & thinks they were 3 great
songs. Simon said he really liked
that. He likes that he doesn’t play it safe & takes risks &
looks like he is having fun. Randy picked ‘I Believe in You & Me’ for
Melinda. I don’t like her low tone
& thought this performance was meh. Randy
said it was a difficult song & she blew it out of the box.
Paula said it was fantastic [3] & one of her best.
Simon said that was her best in the last 4 weeks & Round 1 goes to
her. The Producers chose ‘Nutbush City Limits’.
I thought her vocal was good but the song was awful & boring.
Randy said it was another solid performance & said she should make a
record like that. Paula said we love
you. Simon said it was another
brilliant performance. Randy says
Melinda took that round & Simon says it’s a tie. Melinda chose ‘I’m a Woman’ & I hated the
pretentious way she started w/ a jacket slung over her shoulder.
I liked her vocal & how she had the backup singers on the stage w/
her to spotlight them too. Randy
said he can see her range & he thought it was hot.
Paula said she is stepping out into the spotlight & was fantastic
[4]. Simon said he loved the
striptease at the top & said she consistently delivered week after week. So IMO, Blake should be a goner.
But he has a lot of fans so you just never know.
5/16: Homer
from ‘The Simpsons’ introduced the show & is more animated than Ryan.
Each finalist got to talk about their hometown visit & then we saw a
little from them. Elliott Yamin
& Maroon 5 did a song. The Ford
commercial was to ‘Everybody Wants You’ & I could really only hear
Jordin’s voice in the mix. Jordin
had to step forward & Ryan said there were almost 60 million votes &
JORDIN is safe. I love it!
Then Melinda steps forward but it is not good news this time & MELIND
A is out! People will rip me for
this & I don’t care, but I love that too.
People are going to be whining & crying that it isn’t right or fair
& I get a kick out of it. Yeah
I’m a bitch I know but this show has been so lame that I like the little bit
of excitement. I would have
preferred Blake go as he is the least talented of the bunch but Melinda has been
predicted & pimped to go all the way from the start so it is a nice little
shocker. Love it.
Randy said she has nothing to be ashamed of cuz she did the best.
Paula said she already made it & her career will be huge.
Simon said… I have no idea cuz the show ran over & my DVR didn’t
record it. 5/22: Paula
addressed the nose thing & said she tripped over her dog Tulip.
My husband is convinced she had botched Botox or something like that.
& Ryan used this story to weasel in a swear by saying the bitch [her
dog] is OK. Last week they did the
coin toss & Blake won it & asked Jordin if she wanted to go first &
she didn’t so he was a gentleman & took it.
He is all over the press basically saying he could give 2 shits about
this show or winning it so I am sure that has something to do w/ it. So Blake was up first beatboxing again through ‘You
Give Love a Bad Name’. I liked it
better than the 1st time but still hated it.
Randy said he gets a 10 put of 10 on the beatboxing but the singing was
just aiight. Paula said he needs to
clean his ears out & thinks he outdid himself.
Simon said he is not the best singer but is the best performer.
He thought the singing was flat & shouting in spots. Jordin did a new pick, ‘Fighter’.
I didn’t think it was her best but she didn’t suck on Christina
Aguilera & that is a big feat. Ryan
said it is a great entertainer versus a great singer.
Paula said she knew this would be the best finale ever.
Simon thought it was great that she chose a younger song but thought the
vocals were shrieking & gives round 1 to Blake.
Paula was lame & said it was a tie.
Randy said Jordin gets the vocals & Blake the entertainment. Blake did ‘She Will Be Loved’ & I thought it was
beyond lame. Randy said it was a
great song & a very nice vocal. Paula
said it sounded great. Simon said it
was good but safe & not as good as his 1st song.
He wouldn’t have chosen it for the final cuz it doesn’t make an
impact. Jordin did ‘A Broken Wing’ & I thought it was
pretty good again. Randy said she is
the most talented 17yo he has seen & thought it was flawless & better
than the original. Paula said she is
great vocal voice tonight. Simon
said now that was good. Blake had to do the POS song that supposedly the viewers
chose as the coronation song. It was
awful. It is called ‘This is My
Now’ & the lyrics are sappy & predictable.
Just a horrible song. &
Blake’s vocals were equally as bad. &
he looked like he could give 2 shits. Randy
said it is not Blake’s kind of song & he did a pretty good job but not
great. Paula said he was in great
voice. Simon said it was a little
odd & not is type of song but wants to point out that he always said there
is talent in Seattle [since he prev iously said everyone there was dreadful.] This almost isn’t fair cuz the song was clearly more
in Jordin’s wheelhouse. &
since she can sing circles around Blake she made this crappy song not so crappy.
She has range & put emotion into it & not only did she have a
better vocal, she performed better too. She
choked up at the end & I know people who hate her will say she faked it for
votes. I don’t think so at all.
Randy said she is the best singer & this is a singing competition so
she deserves it all. Paula said her
parents should be proud. Simon said
last week he didn’t think she was good enough to be in the finals but he was
wrong. This is a singing competition
& she just wiped the floor w/ Blake on that song. Randy said Jordin wins the night.
Paula said they are all winners. Simon
said the best individual performance was Blake’s first song but overall it was
Jordin’s night. Chris Daughtry
closed the show doing ‘Home’ & wearing WAY too much guyliner. 5/23: Blake
& Jordin dueted on ‘Saw You Standing There’ & it sucked.
They went to Gwen Stafani supposedly on tour to do a song but I am pretty
sure this was one of those things taped a month ago for the pat on the back
special that never aired. It seemed
she was lipsynching too & she doesn’t usually do that.
Kelly Clarkson did ‘Never Again’. Then they went to these Golden Idol Awards so they could
spotlight some of the wacky people in the early rounds.
That big bird looking older lady got ‘Best Presentation’.
Some guy that wasn’t even that bad got “Most Original Vocal”.
Of course Jonathon & Kenneth got “Best Buddies”.
The Top 6 guys sang a Smokey Robinson song & then
Smokey came out to do a few. Blake
got to beatbox w/ the originator, Doug E. Fresh.
I finally figured out Blake’s calling since he can’t sing.
He could be the sound effects guy in another ‘ The Ford commercial was to ‘Time After Time’ &
they just showed clips from all the commercials they did this season.
Jordin & Blake were given keys for their brand new convertible
Mustangs. Carrie Underwood sang ‘Stand By You’ & then
Clive Davis came out to brag about how well Chris Daughtry has done & to
present Carrie w/ a 6 million album award. Then
some African kids did a song. Here is what many were waiting for.
Sanjaya got a segment all to himself.
He did ‘You Really Got Me’ w/ Joe Perry.
The crying girl was back doing her thing.
Then they went to Greenday doing ‘Working Class Hero’.
That was also recorded either awhile ago or it was before the show went
live tonight. Brad Garrett was sitting in Simon’s seat as Ryan
introduced Bette Midler. Then they
went to a medley of ‘A Day in the Life’.
Kelly was w/ Joe Perry. Then Ryan bragged that they had over 609 million votes this
season & hit a record last night w/ 74 million.
Randy said Jordin should win. Paula
blahed on how they are both stars & proud of them & whatever.
Simon said it was a good night last night but based on the last song…
congratulations Jordin. & he is
right. Jordin was named the next
American Idol. Blake told his Mom
& Dad he loved them. Jordin did
that sappy song & choked up on it again. The season ended just as it should.
She isn’t the best singer but she can sing & has loads of
potential. Blake can’t sing at all
& didn’t want to win & thinks the whole show is a joke.
Maybe it would have been better for him to win so he could suffer putting
out that crap. That could have been
funny. But I am happy for Jordin.
