Reality Television - The dates covered in this newsletter are December 19th - January 27. 'Dancing with the Stars' is back & there is already controversy. Master P just flat out sucks yet the viewers kept voting him in. Finally he was taken out & all is right w/ the world. 'American Idol' just started & we are just in the bad auditions. Drama there already too as twins Terrell & Derrell made it to Hollywood & then it was revealed they had stolen someone's identity to buy a car. One was in jail & the other was to turn himself in. They were both eventually released & then AI "uninvited" them. Also back are 'The Bachelor' & 'Beauty and the Geek'. But that all pales as 'Survivor: Panama' arrives this week on the 2nd! They are dividing the tribes into 4. The tribes were determined by sex & age. & then there is this whole "exile island" thing where someone will have to spend the night alone there but an Immunity Idol is hidden somewhere on the island. Could be interesting. Oh yeah, Deal or No Deal is coming back in March.

American Idol 5 - 1/17: It's back! I don't usually recap the auditions cuz it is just really showing the bad singers & you just have to see it for yourself. But I will do a quick rundown of the people that made it through to Hollywood. First up is Chicago & twins Terrell & Derrell. They did an original song together & then each did a song on their own. They were good & made it through, but not for long. If you haven't heard, there is already an AI scandal. No, Paula hasn't slept w/ another contestant… yet. ALLEGEDLY the boys used someone else's information to buy a car. Terrell is in jail already & his brother was supposed to turn himself in. AI hasn't said yet what they will do but if these guys aren't cut I will be pissed. Summary continued here

The Bachelor - 1/ 9: They claim this is the best bachelor yet. I am sure they say that everytime. His name is Travis Stork & he is a doctor. No, not an Obstetrician. That would be obvious. He is an E.R doc in Nashville. He greets the 25 ladies. Allie G. stands out cuz she is a doctor as well as being a psycho. See, she says her eggs are rotting. Ummm, yeah. Nice meeting you. Jennifer also had babies on the brain as she tells us in a confessional that she thinks they would make "hot little babies". Travis is told he has one rose that he can present to one lucky lady before the official ceremony. Summary continued here

Beauty and the Geek 2 - 1/12: If you didn't see the first season, Ashton Kutcher says this isn't a dating show, but rather a "social experiment". He takes some so-called "beauties" & pairs them up w/ smart guys so they can learn from each other. The girls waited at the pool as the guys came in one at a time to introduce themselves. The girls would then decide which one of them would pair up w/ the guy after he left. Brandon volunteered to go first. Tristin chose him. Ankur went next. This guy has a giant ego… & a tie he made out of duct tape. Jennipher thought if he could make that he could make her a belt so she chose him. Tyson is the Rubick's Cube Champ so he solved it behind his back for the girls. Summary continued here

The Biggest Loser Special Edition - 1/ 4: This isn't the typical season. They are doing a bunch of special editions that are only 2 episodes long. This one was 2 families against each other. The Muhas have a son they haven't seen in a year and a half as he is in the Air Force & over in Iraq. The Mom, Dad & daughter have comforted themselves w/ food. The Samuels had 2 horrible things happen in the same year. The Mom got cancer & had a kidney removed while the Dad lost his job. Both sets of parents were joined by their daughters & they go to the ranch to get weighed in. Erica Muha [daughter] was 233. Mom Shaun was 232. So the daughter weighed a pound more than her Mom. Dancing With the Stars 2 - 1/ 5: I started watching the 1st season & I just couldn't stomach it. I know the show was a big hit but I couldn't stand it. There are just so many reality shows on that I have to start cutting them off somewhere you know? & it was on during the summer when I am really busy doing the 'Big Brother' Live Feeds. But the show became a huge hit so I thought I would give it a try again. & I was able to get through all 2 hours of the premiere. I still hate the judges though. I will list them in score order, highest to lowest. Drew Lachey is Nick Lachey's brother. They were in 98 Degrees together. If you have seen 'Newlyweds', you also know that Drew became Nick's manager & that he is also did 'Rent'. Summary continued here

The Gauntlet 2 - 12/19: To entertain themselves, some people box each other. It is raining so it is really slippery outside as well. David & Alton go first & then the 2 girl captains, Ruthie & Kina go at it. Those 2 girls go all out but hug afterwards & it is all good. The challenge this week is called "Team Builders". There are 3 physical tasks they have to complete as a team before moving on to the next one. The first one was called "Team Bridge". They have to race down the hill & then use tires, boards & ropes to transport their team from one line to another w/out touching the ground. If someone does they have to start over. The Rookies lay the tires on the ground & put the boards over them & then walk across & then try to pass the back tire forward to continue on. The Veterans attempt this as well but Timmy touches the ground so they have to start over. Ace comes up w/ the idea to just walk in the tires. The guys carry the girls on their backs. Alton touches the ground so the Rookies have to start over now & have fallen way behind the Veterans. Summary continued here

Skating With Celebrities - 1/ 18: I am not a fan of the dancing show but thought I would try this one cuz who doesn't want to watch F-list celebrities get hurt on the ice? This show is the same as 'Dancing with the Stars' in that you have a quasi-celebrity perform with a professional. This show is hosted by Scott Hamilton & Summer Sanders & has 3 judges too, 2 guys & a girl. I do not follow skating so I don't know the 2 guys but I do know who Dorothy Hamill is. Who doesn't? The skaters will be judged on Technical Merit & Artistic Impression & have to complete a spin of at least 3 revolutions. Summary continued here
